  • drafting and reviewing pleadings and briefs formulating
  • litigation strategies conducting discovery or preparing
  • discovery plans identifying expert consultants and
  • witnessesarguing motions and appeals co-counseling cases

Without NHeLP, we would spend an inordinate amount of resources to achieve the same result.

Recent landmark victories:

1998-1999: improved availability of and access to home and community based services for children and adults in Louisiana, Maine, and West Virginia.

1995 - brought preventive health services to children in West Virginia's foster care system

1994 - required health and quality improvements for elderly and disabled people living in West Virginia's residential board and care homes (1994)

1993 - strengthened nationwide federal enforcement of lead-blood screening requirements for poor children

1992 - improved disenrollment and grievance processes for Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in HMOs

1990 - improved maternity and dental care provider participation in California's Medicaid program

1989 - established indigent patients' rights to basic health care in state-funded non-Medicaid programs (the first published judicial opinion on this issue)
