Database & Donor Relations Coordinator
Lauren McCarthy is NHeLP’s donor relations and database coordinator. Based in NHeLP’s Washington, D.C. office, Lauren works on capacity-building initiatives across all of the organization’s offices. Focused on streamlining and maintaining the integrity of NHeLP’s donor database, Lauren also works to engage the organization’s constituents through communications and outreach.
Lauren brings to NHeLP more than five years of experience with nonprofit volunteers, fundraising and governance. She joined NHeLP from the American Geophysical Union (“AGU”), where she provided editorial support for the organization’s academic research journals before becoming a development assistant.
Lauren developed and implemented AGU’s first-ever first-time donor outreach program and helped organize and convene meetings of the organization’s volunteer Development Board. She also engaged in high-level donor outreach and was responsible for maintaining, updating and reporting on all constituent and gift fundraising data, including managing more than 70 different development, endowment and award funds.
Lauren received her Bachelor of Arts in communication from Virginia Tech, where she was on the board of directors for the Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech (EMCVT) and was a faculty advisor for Envision’s Junior National Young Leaders Conference.
A photography hobbyist, Lauren totes her camera everywhere and enjoys capturing life’s adventures with her often reluctant subjects – her friends and family.
