Medicaid Fact Sheets from the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI)
The National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), together with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), have produced a series of one-page, state specific fact sheets about the issue of children and Medicaid. The fact sheets are written in simple, easy to understand language, and focus on why Medicaid is important to the health of so many of America's children. NACHRI and AAP have mailed copies of the fact sheets to every candidate for Congress or Governor.
As many as 42 states will be facing Medicaid budget shortfalls this year. The budget problem is compounded by the fact that the federal government decreased its Medicaid contributions to 29 states in FY 2002. As a result, it's more important than ever to ensure that candidates for state and federal offices are well-educated about the role that Medicaid plays in caring for the nation's most vulnerable children.
All 51 fact sheets are now available on the NACHRI web site. We encourage you to share these fact sheets or a link to our web site with others in your organization. If you have any questions about the fact sheets, please contact either Suzanne Hansen (shansen@nachri.org) or Sharon Ladin (sladin@nachri.org) at 703-684-1355.
