The National Health Law Program is working to convince the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina to adopt a resolution calling for the recognition of health as a human right. The Immigration and Human Rights Policy Clinic of the University of North Carolina School of Law is representing NHeLP in this effort. A draft of the resolution was provided to the Board of Commissioners at its meeting on April 10, 2007. Commissioners expressed support for this effort and the Board is currently studying the resolution for future action.

The students participating in the clinic are Sarah K. Chasnovitz, Joyce E. Kung, Daniel M. MacGuire, Sireesha Manne, Cory S. Menees, and Tracy M. Morrison. All are third year laws students. Their faculty adviser is Professor Deborah M. Wasserman, J.D.
