The Illinois Legislature has passed HB0469, waiving sovereign immunity for employment claims under 5 federal statutes. The bill is awaiting the Governor's approval. The five statutes are the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. The waiver permits suit in either federal or state court.
