Partners with O’Neill Institute to offer comprehensive clearinghouse for

legal challenges to health care reform law

Washington D.C.—The National Health Law Program (“NHeLP”) and the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law have launched a new on-line information center cataloguing challenges to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ACA”), the health care reform law that Congress passed in spring of 2010.

The website, www.healthlawandlitigation.com, provides users with a schedule for all actions in all cases challenging the ACA; a compilation of briefs, motions, orders, and judgments as they are filed; notable Supreme Court precedents on the issues that are at the heart of the litigation; state ballot initiatives, legislation, and litigation related to the ACA; and legal and health policy scholarship pertaining to the litigation.

“This is a phenomenal resource for attorneys, journalists, and the larger public who want a single source of information about the more than a dozen challenges to various aspects of the ACA,” said Jane Perkins, NHeLP  legal director.

The website offers an interactive map and regularly updated court dockets for all lawsuits challenging the ACA, as well as background information such as notable legal precedents and articles from scholarly and law journals on aspects of the new law.

“We hope that policymakers, practitioners, and health care scholars will find the site a valuable resource,” said Timothy Westmoreland, Senior Scholar at the O’Neill Institute.  “We are delighted to partner with NHeLP to educate the public about such an important piece of legislation.”
