In National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius (NFIB), the Supreme Court held that the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) Medicaid expansion was unduly coercive on the states, and limited the federal government’s enforcement authority if a state fails to implement the expansion. NFIB is raising a number of questions for Medicaid programs across the nation. NHeLP continues to analyze the decision and implications for Medicaid and health care for low-income individuals and families.
