Last week, NHeLP submitted comments urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reject an Arkansas proposal to use public funds to purchase private health insurance for Medicaid enrollees. The Arkansas premium assistance plan was proposed as a demonstration project under Sec. 1115 of the Social Security Act.

NHeLP identified numerous legal deficiencies in the Arkansas proposal and recommended that CMS work with state officials and health advocates to correct those deficiencies.
