Medicaid is America’s health care lifeline, providing quality coverage to over 60 million low-income individuals. Medicaid operates as a joint partnership between states and the federal government, and is the largest source of federally supported health care. In exchange for federal funding, states must meet a number of requirements governing who is eligible, what services must be provided, and protections for enrollees. NHeLP defends the integrity of Medicaid by protecting the rights of Medicaid beneficiaries, enforcing Medicaid law in litigation, and advocating for Medicaid policies and laws to ensure the program meets the needs of low-income individuals.
